Child-led Learning
We believe children learn best when their curiosity is nurtured, their voices are valued, and their environment inspires exploration. Our learning programs are thoughtfully designed to support every child’s growth through meaningful projects, intentional teaching, and hands‑on discovery. Our learning programs include
- Child Safeguarding Project – We embed strong child‑safeguarding practices into our daily routines and learning experiences. Children learn about safety, boundaries, confidence, and how to advocate for themselves in age‑appropriate ways.
- Sustainability Project – Our sustainability program empowers children to care for the environment through recycling, gardening, composting, and thoughtful use of resources.
- Strong Focus on Early Literacy & Numeracy – From the earliest years, we build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy through play‑based learning, storytelling, music, problem‑solving, and hands‑on activities.
- Our current investigations include; dinosaurs, solar system, transportation, textures and indigenous culture
Initiatives at Nido Maylands
- We regularly host fundraising initiatives that bring families together while supporting important causes. These events help children learn about empathy, generosity, and social responsibility.
- Nursing Home Partnerships- we maintain a heartwarming intergenerational partnership with a local nursing home, giving children opportunities to build friendships, share joy, and learn from older community members.
- Honouring Indigenous Culture – we embed Indigenous perspectives into our daily practices, celebrating the rich culture, stories, and knowledge of Australia’s First Nations peoples. This helps children develop respect, understanding, and connection to Country.
Safety Every Day
At Nido, safety is part of every day. We follow national child-safe standards with strong leadership, rigorous recruitment, and ongoing training for everyone in our early schools. Our spaces are designed for clear supervision, and our policies are regularly reviewed to maintain the highest standards. Nothing matters more than creating safe and secure environments where children feel confident, and families place their full trust in our care.
Our Community
Community is at the heart of Nido. Every day, we nurture strong connections between families, educators, children and the wider community. Through inclusive events, regular updates and hands-on experiences – from community gardens to visits from special guests, every child feels confident, included and inspired to learn.

Changes to the Child Care Subsidy
The 3 Day Guarantee. What does it mean for your family enrolling in 2026?From 5 January 2026, the Australian Government is updating the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to guarantee at least 3 days of subsidised early childhood education and care per week. This means that all CCS-eligible families will receive at least 72 hours per fortnight (3 days/week) of subsidised childcare regardless of their work, study, or volunteering status.
Since Nido Early School is a government approved childcare provider, if you are eligible for CCS you will be entitled to the new 3 Day Child Care Subsidy Guarantee on your fees.
