The classroom without walls

We want to teach every child how to be good global citizens – the kind of people who leave the world in a better place than they found it.

For children, this comes from experiencing a sense of belonging and understanding that they are part of a community. Some Nido Early Schools take their children to the local post office to send letters to people, others take children to aged care facilities to read to the residents.

This connectiveness and social interaction teaches collaboration, diversity and empathy.

At Nido, we really encourage getting children involved in our local communities:

  • Local excursions to get to know our community
  • Incursions with our local community members
  • Local community fundraisers
  • Holding events for the community at our Early Schools
  • Incorporating your family’s culture, values and languages
  • Embedding Indigenous culture into programs
