Every Day Matters at Nido Butler

At Nido Butler, we believe children are capable, confident, and resourceful learners who actively construct knowledge through relationships, play, inquiry, and meaningful experiences.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, we recognise children as active participants in their learning and value their unique strengths, interests, cultures, and identities.

We are committed to creating an environment where children’s agency is respected and promoted, encouraging them to make choices, express ideas, solve problems, and contribute to decisions that affect their learning and wellbeing.

Through strong relationships with children, families, educators, and the wider community, we foster a sense of belonging, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

Child-led Learning

• Engaging learning programs are child-led, inspired by the Reggio-Emilia philosophy and facilitated by a dedicated Curriculum Leader.
• Our teams are made up of passionate, sector leading degree qualified teachers, with all Educators diploma-qualified or holding a Cert III.
• Our unique curriculum is co-designed with families, experts and educators and builds upon the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health and confidence.
• STEM learning is embedded throughout our curriculum through hands-on science experiments, construction projects, coding experiences and problem-solving activities.
• Social and emotional development is supported through collaborative experiences, guided discussions, mindfulness activities and our daily yoga ritual.
• Environmental education includes gardening, recycling initiatives, nature-based play, Containers for Change initiative and our local Adopt-a-Spot project.
• Creativity, health and wellbeing are encouraged through experiences in our wet and sensory ateliers, outdoor learning programs and our Safety Warrior initiative.

Community Experiences

Our excursions allow children to explore and learn within the local community. These include:

• Excursions to local community spaces, including Woolworths, parks and playgrounds, pet shops, and train stations, provide real-world learning experiences.
• Regular library visits encourage a love of literacy, storytelling and community connection.
• Children’s yoga sessions support wellbeing, mindfulness and physical development.
• Dental health programs and police community engagement visits provide meaningful opportunities for children to learn about health, safety and community helpers.
• Special experiences such as traditional Balinese dancing and animal encounters introduce children to diverse cultures, perspectives and learning opportunities.

Safety Every Day

At Nido, safety is part of every day. We follow national child-safe standards with strong leadership, rigorous recruitment, and ongoing training for everyone in our early schools. Our spaces are designed for clear supervision, and our policies are regularly reviewed to maintain the highest standards. Nothing matters more than creating safe and secure environments where children feel confident, and families place their full trust in our care.

Our Community

Community is an important part of life at Nido Butler. Through meaningful partnerships and connections, children are supported to develop a strong sense of belonging and connection to the world around them.

Our community partnerships include local businesses, community organisations, specialist support services, and wellbeing providers, including Butler Crocs, Butler Central, Wanneroo Library, Epilepsy WA, and Perth Children’s Hospital. These relationships enrich children’s learning, support family wellbeing, and provide meaningful opportunities for children to engage with and contribute to their wider community.
