Meet the team at Iluka

At Nido Iluka, our team places the highest importance on the welfare and wellbeing of every child. We believe that consistency in care and the development of strong, trusting relationships are the foundation for children to feel safe, secure and confident in their learning. This is evident in our day-to-day practice through educator’s taking time to truly know each child, responding to their individual needs, and providing predictable routines and familiar faces

All educators actively contribute to children’s learning journeys by sharing observations, ideas and insights. This collective responsibility ensures every child has someone advocating for them and that learning is enriched through a shared commitment to high-quality, inclusive practice.

Why families choose Nido Iluka

Our special programs at Nido Iluka

Children at our service participate in a variety of regular excursions, community-based experiences, and special events that extend learning beyond the classroom and foster strong community connections.

Beach Kinder is a key program where children engage with local life savers to learn about beach and water safety, developing an understanding of safety practices that are relevant to our local community.

We also celebrate special events that connect children with the wider community and their families, such as Grandparents Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Celebration of Learning, and Graduation ceremonies. These occasions recognise and celebrate children’s learning journeys, often tracing back to their first year of life, while strengthening intergenerational connections and family engagement.

In addition, children regularly take walks within the local community, exploring familiar streets, parks, and natural spaces. These experiences help children connect with their surroundings, develop observation and social skills, and understand the world around them while staying within a safe and familiar environment.

Together, these excursions and experiences promote learning, community engagement, and a sense of belonging.

Child-led Learning

  • Engaging learning programs are child-led, inspired by the Reggio-Emilia philosophy and facilitated by a dedicated Curriculum Leader.
  • Our teams are made up of passionate, sector leading degree qualified teachers, with all Educators diploma-qualified or holding a Cert III.
  • Our unique curriculum is co-designed with families, experts and educators and builds upon the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) to balance literacy, numeracy, creativity, health and confidence.
  • At Nido Iluka, our Confident Learners program supports children to build independence, resilience, and a positive sense of self.
  • Our Healthy Minds and Bodies programs promote physical wellbeing, emotional regulation, and positive mental health through movement, mindfulness, and wellbeing-focused experiences.
  • Children’s learning is further enriched through creativity and STEM experiences that encourage curiosity, exploration, and critical thinking, as well as sustainability practices that foster respect for the environment and responsible citizenship.
  • Cultural celebrations are thoughtfully planned to reflect our families and community, ensuring all traditions are acknowledged and celebrated with respect and authenticity.

Every Day Matters at Nido Iluka

At Nido Early School Iluka, our underlying belief is that children are confident and capable learners, where together we make thoughtful decisions to nurture children’s personal growth and development through the 100 languages of learning.

We aim to inspire and nurture children’s natural love of learning, through supporting their interests, strengths, and inquiry of the world around them. We are passionate about fostering children to continue their journey of being life-long learners, who endeavour to seek deeper concepts of who they are and where they belong in the world.

Our purpose is to be the leaders in early childhood education and care, making influential and inspirational changes to impact the early years profession. We provide a rich curriculum aligning principles, practices and outcomes as outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework, the National Quality Standards, and the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

Safety Every Day

At Nido, safety is part of every day. We follow national child-safe standards with strong leadership, rigorous recruitment, and ongoing training for everyone in our early schools. Our spaces are designed for clear supervision, and our policies are regularly reviewed to maintain the highest standards. Nothing matters more than creating safe and secure environments where children feel confident, and families place their full trust in our care.

Our Iluka Community

We have strong and meaningful connections within the local community, particularly with first responder networks, with many of our families and staff belonging to police and firefighter families.
These relationships support a shared understanding of the unique needs of first responder families and strengthen our sense of community.

We actively engage our police and firefighter family members to promote safety education within the service, helping children develop an understanding of safety in a way that creates awe, wonder, and trust. These interactions allow children to see first responders in a positive, familiar light, building confidence and respect while reducing fear through meaningful, real-life connections.

We also maintain partnerships with local early childhood and community services, including Tiny Tots, the local community library, and local mothers’ groups. Tiny Tots is a charity organisation that collects baby goods and essential items for families experiencing hardship or with limited resources. Our service uses its community connections to support theirs, encouraging families and children to participate in acts of generosity and social responsibility.

Together, these partnerships promote early literacy, inclusion, safety awareness, and a strong sense of belonging within the wider community.

Changes to the Child Care Subsidy

The 3 Day Guarantee. What does it mean for your family enrolling in 2026?

From 5 January 2026, the Australian Government is updating the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) to guarantee at least 3 days of subsidised early childhood education and care per week. This means that all CCS-eligible families will receive at least 72 hours per fortnight (3 days/week) of subsidised childcare regardless of their work, study, or volunteering status.

Since Nido Early School is a government approved childcare provider, if you are eligible for CCS you will be entitled to the new 3 Day Child Care Subsidy Guarantee on your fees.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, waters, and skies where we work and live across Australia. We pay our respect to Elders past and present. We celebrate the stories, culture, and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders of all communities, who work and live on this land.
