Beyond the Brush: Gallery Night at Nido Early School Palmyra

There are moments in a child’s learning journey when curiosity, creativity and discovery come together in meaningful ways. At Nido Early School Palmyra, Gallery Night 2026 provided a special opportunity to celebrate children’s learning and share the stories behind their creations with families.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, Beyond the Brush encouraged families to look beyond the finished artworks and explore the ideas, questions and experiences that inspired each piece. Every display offered a glimpse into children’s thinking, imagination and unique perspectives, highlighting the many ways they make sense of the world around them.

The evening also featured Saffira from The Online Speechie, shining a light on the many ways children communicate, express their ideas and connect with others. Through creative expression, gestures, spoken language and play, the event celebrated the diverse “languages” children use to share their thinking and experiences.

Children’s voices were woven throughout the displays, with one child proudly sharing, “The paper was gooey and it dried and turned to a new paper!” This offered families a glimpse into the curiosity and learning behind each creation.

What made the evening particularly meaningful was the opportunity for families to view learning through their children’s eyes. One parent reflected, “I never imagined how big and beautiful our community was until our Gallery Night. I look forward to it every year.”

Most importantly, Gallery Night created a space for connection, conversation and shared discovery. It served as a powerful reminder that behind every artwork lies a story of curiosity, exploration and learning, and that sometimes the most meaningful part is everything that happens beyond the brush.
