Exceeds National Quality Standards: Nido Early School Beeliar Village

Nido Early School Beeliar Village has been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standard under the National Quality Framework in all seven Quality Areas and now joins a network of seven early schools with exceeding rating.

The National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia.

Services are assessed against the NQS by the state or territory regulatory authority and receive a rating for each of the seven quality areas of the NQS, as well as an overall rating. An overall rating of Exceeding NQS is given to services that go above and beyond the requirements of the NQS in at least four of the seven quality areas. Nido Early School Beeliar Village has achieved this in all seven areas.

The reason behind succeeding in all seven areas is mainly due to Nido’s strong reflections in each area and how these were used to guide practice, as well as school’s commitment to asking for, receiving, and using family input in all seven areas. Mel Gereke, the Executive Service Manager adds: “Reflecting on our practices in a variety of formats and having families provide feedback regularly was a key part of achieving exceeding in all seven areas.”

Nido Beeliar Village Curriculum Leader Tulani Sullivan also played an integral part in the assessment.

Our Assessment and Rating experience was a really positive one. Our team reflected prior to the visit that we were just going to be open and share our services journey with pride, just as we do each and every day. Our approach really paid off as the assessors were able to observe all our embedded practices, the sense of belonging of the children and long-standing team of Educators, the reflective ways we collaborate for change together with the children, educators, and our community, and the enriching and warming environment that supports us all and helps bring it all together!

Nido Early School Beeliar Village proudly marks its eighth year of providing outstanding early learning education services. The school’s team, consisting of twenty five dedicated members, boasts a significant number of long-standing educators. This continuity in staff contributes to the establishment of a cohesive and experienced group that provides a consistent and reliable learning environment. Families return with second and third children, spanning nearly the entire duration of the school’s eight-year existence, reflect the deep trust and satisfaction in the educational experience offered. This allows the dedicated team to form meaningful bonds with every individual within the school community.

An absolute achievement and one to be so proud of. For some this was their first assessment and rating. The team embraced this journey and delivered as they do every other day. As soon as the visit was done, even before the results were in, the team were on cloud nine and have not come down since” Kareen Cox – People and Quality Leader.

The National Quality Framework (NQF) for early childhood education and care was agreed by all Australian governments to get better educational and development outcomes for children using education and care services.

Implementation of the NQF is guided by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
