Nido Early School Kew Celebrates Opening Ceremony
31 Jul 2026Nido Early School Kew celebrated its Opening Ceremony, recognising the people, partnerships and shared vision behind the new centre ahead of welcoming its first families.
Nido Early School Kew recently celebrated an important milestone with a special Opening Ceremony, bringing together team members, community representatives and supporters who have played a role in bringing the new centre to life.
The evening marked the culmination of months of planning, collaboration and dedication. From the thoughtful design of the learning environments and carefully selected resources to the completion of the build, the event provided an opportunity to reflect on the journey that transformed a vision into a vibrant new early learning centre.
The celebration commenced with a Welcome to Country by Uncle Colin, who shared the rich history and cultural significance of the land on which Nido Kew stands. His words provided an opportunity for guests to learn, reflect and pay respect to the Traditional Owners of the land, setting a meaningful tone for the evening.

We were also honoured to welcome Dr Monique Ryan MP, Federal Member for Kooyong, who took the time to visit the centre and connect with the growing community. Her attendance reflected the strong local connections that will continue to support Nido Kew as it prepares to welcome its first families.
Executive Service Manager, Lyn Guo, addressed guests, acknowledging the passion, commitment and teamwork that made the opening of Nido Kew possible. She extended her gratitude to the team and the many individuals across Nido’s Support Office whose contributions helped bring the new centre to life. Her reflections celebrated not only the achievement of reaching this milestone but also the exciting journey ahead.
A particularly memorable moment of the evening was the presentation of a thoughtful gift from the team at nearby Nido Hawthorn East. The team gifted a lemon tree, symbolising growth and the journey ahead, along with a scrapbook documenting shared memories from the early stages of both centres’ journeys and leaving space for future milestones to be captured. They also presented an original heritage tile from Nido Hawthorn East’s heritage-listed building, a meaningful keepsake representing the connection between the two centres.

The evening concluded with Nido’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the formal opening of the centre. Guests then enjoyed exploring the beautifully designed learning environments, connecting with one another and sharing a delicious spread prepared by Service Cook, Chelsea.
The Opening Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the people, partnerships and shared vision behind Nido Early School Kew. As the centre prepares to open its doors, we look forward to welcoming children and families into a nurturing environment where they can learn, grow and thrive.
