Our team at Balcatta
Our team bring different strengths and interests all of which play a part in providing outstanding early learning experiences for your child.
Our Sustainability officer leads sustainability initiatives including maintaining our worm farm and creating our vegetable garden. Children are actively involved in caring for the garden by watering the plants each week and learning about environmental responsibility.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander are led by the RAP officer, embedding the Acknowledgement of Country into our daily practices, introducing children to the Noongar seasons, and supporting culturally respectful learning experiences.
Our educational team includes two early childhood teachers bringing valuable knowledge, experience and perspectives to our program. Many of our educators speak two or more languages helping children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds feel welcomed, build a sense of belonging, and settle into the service with confidence.
Our musically talented educators create engaging experiences that support creativity, language development, and a love of music!
Together, our team’s diverse skills, experience, and passions enrich the learning environment and contribute to high-quality outcomes for all children.

Every Day Matters at Nido Balcatta
We believe that every child is unique and develops at their own pace, requiring individualised support to feel safe, confident, and valued.
We are committed to building strong, trusting relationships with children and their families, as open and respectful communication is essential in supporting each child’s well-being and development.
We value child-led learning and encourage children to have a voice in their experiences, allowing them to confidently express themselves through play, creativity, and exploration.
We strive to create a calm, welcoming, and unhurried environment where children feel secure and respected, and where their individuality is recognised and celebrated.
Through play-based learning, both indoors and outdoors, children are supported to use their imagination, develop independence, and build meaningful connections, while a positive and inviting environment reflects and supports their ongoing learning and growth.
Child-led Learning
-
We offer a range of programs and experiences that support different areas of children’s learning and development.
-
One of our key initiatives is our sustainability project. The children actively collect food scraps, which are used to feed our worms, helping them learn about recycling and reducing waste. We also collect the worm tea (liquid fertiliser) and donate it to our families to use for composting and their home gardens, encouraging sustainable practices beyond the centre.
-
Each month, we run a yoga program led by a qualified instructor. Through yoga, children learn self-regulation strategies, mindfulness, breathing techniques, and different ways to move and strengthen their bodies while developing confidence and body awareness.
-
We also place a strong emphasis on caring for our environment and each other. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning spaces by helping to care for the gardens, recycling materials, and keeping the environment clean. Throughout the day, educators support children to build positive relationships, show kindness and respect, and look after their peers by practising empathy, cooperation, and inclusion.
