Could your child benefit from extra days at Nido Early School?
Nido Early School is extremely proud of the role we play in growing and developing young minds. Our child-led, play-based learning is instrumental in helping young children grow. But for some children, there’s an opportunity to learn and develop even more. How? By spending extra days with us.
Every child is different, with different needs, abilities, challenges and loves. And every child learns differently. For some, attending Nido for a day or two a week is enough. They learn, they grow, and they develop. For others, additional days can help advance their development.
8 Benefits of More Days in Childcare
Here are just some of the ways some children can benefit from extra days of love and learning at Nido.
1. Separation Anxiety
If a child is only attending one or two days a week, this can result in separation anxiety. Extra days can help the child build familiarity and comfort with educators, allows them to become more familiar with the environment and routine, and build greater attachment with the early school.
2. Development
Research shows that 90% of brain development occurs in a child’s first 2000 days. Early childhood play-based education is the best way to support this development. Nido’s play-based learning, together with the Reggio Emilia-inspired approach is instrumental in this development, with additional days fast-tracking this.
3. Social Development
Making friends by playing with peers is key for developing core social skills, particularly in 3–5-year-olds. Additional days helps support this. To enhance this even further, we would look at the days a child’s best friends also attend and look to pair up their days of attendance to continue supporting these bonds and connections.
4. Developing Independence
Through attending more days, the child is able to build their confidence and their identity of who they are, helping them develop a sense of self, independence and belonging.
5. School Readiness
Attending extra days can help children as they prepare for the transition from Kinder to the school setting. We have a transitions / school readiness programme to support those children who are about to start school.
6. Self-Regulation
This is especially useful for the toddler group. Additional days gives them more time to work with peers and educators which is vital to them learning how to regulate their emotions, forming relationships, and building friendships.
7. Learning New Routines
A child who is only attending one day per week and not taking part in other extra-curricular activities could benefit from more regular routines. This helps to build cognitive and emotional skills resulting in a more confident, comfortable, and secure child.
8. Potential Subsidies
There may be financial support from the Government that can minimise out-of-pocket expenses for any additional days at Nido Early School.
