Why the first 1000 days of learning matter at Nido
19 May 2026Nido Early School is proud to launch our new Infant and Toddler Curriculum, designed to support children during the first 1000 days of learning, one of the most important stages in a child’s growth and development.
Developed for children from birth to three years, the curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to support learning through nurturing environments, meaningful play-based experiences and strong relationships with familiar educators.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and aligned to the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the curriculum recognises infants and toddlers as capable, curious and active participants in their own learning.

Nido Early School Director of Education and Quality, Nadia Wilson Ali, said the curriculum reflects both the importance of early development and how high quality early education can help children build confidence, communication and social and emotional skills from an early age.
“The first three years of life are a period of extraordinary brain development, when children are building the foundations for future learning, wellbeing, communication and relationships,” Nadia said.
“When infants and toddlers feel safe with familiar educators, they develop the confidence to explore, communicate, build relationships and discover the world around them.”
“At Nido, we believe children deserve more than care alone. They deserve meaningful learning experiences, nurturing environments and strong relationships that help them feel confident, capable and supported as they grow.”
Built around seven learning branches, the curriculum supports children to develop foundational skills through play, exploration and everyday learning experiences as they progress towards school and the Australian Curriculum.
The curriculum also forms part of a connected learning pathway alongside the Nido Kindergarten Curriculum, supporting continuity in learning and development from birth through to school readiness and beyond.
Nadia said the curriculum recognises the important role everyday experiences play in helping children learn and grow.
“Everyday moments like mealtimes, play, routines and interactions all become opportunities for learning, connection and development,” she said.
“By creating environments where children feel safe, supported and confident, we help lay strong foundations for future learning and wellbeing.”
Nido. Every day matters.
